Academic Program for Entrepreneurship (APE)

The Academic Program for Entrepreneurship (APE) is the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program of the University of Munich and the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE). APE offers an additional qualification for students and professionals in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Over the course of ten months, participants will learn methods and tools, such as Design Thinking, Prototyping and Business Model Canvas to develop innovative solutions to various challenges of organizations or individuals and to successfully establish them in the marketplace. With each of the three different projects and with each new team composition, knowledge and experience in dealing with the innovation methods are deepened. On a personal level, the participants expand key competences such as teamwork and communication skills, and in particular they can test themselves in leadership competence.

APE works closely with companies and organizations. These enter real topics and projects for which the participants develop new products, services or business models. The insight into the process and the methods is especially valuable for our partners, as well as gaining new perspectives from external innovation teams.

Your benefits

KNOW-HOW UND ERFAHRUNG

Program

APE is based on the academic year and covers two semesters (October to February and March to July). During the semester break (beginning of March) the APE International Bootcamp takes place with participants from abroad.

In the first semester you will learn the basics of the innovation process, methods of qualitative user research, design thinking, prototyping, and business models. The framework is either a start-up project or a project with a company.

In the International Bootcamp you deepen your know-how and experience from the first project in an international context. For a week we work in English-speaking teams on a new theme or challenge. "Food Innovation" was the topic of 2017.

In the second semester, you now apply your growing skills to a business project. Our business partners provide diverse challenges and issues for which you and your new team develop and test innovative solutions and business models.

APE method

We call the process that starts with a problem, social challenge, technology, or crazy idea, and leads to a marketable solution, an innovation process.

In this process different approaches and tools are combined: Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Business Model Development. The process is not linear, in reality, it serves as a guide to the application of the methods.

In addition to the technical know-how, we also attach great importance to personal development and the expansion of key competences such as teamwork, communication and presentation skills.

Time

APE training is time consuming. All workshops and seminars are planned in such a way that it is possible to participate in addition to a regular study or a professional activity.

In the winter and summer semester, our workshops take place every Monday from 18:30 to 21:30 and on three Saturdays in the SCE. Due to public holidays and the availability of guest speakers, some appointments may also be held on other days of the week in the evening.

The boot camp during the semester break includes six full days in a row.

All appointments will be announced in time. Participants in the program are expected to attend these dates.
