cureVision wins Health-i-award 2023 with AI-assisted wound analysis!

Go back

The Munich-based med-tech startup and SCE alumni cureVision specializes in improving the care of chronic wounds through the use of artificial intelligence, and has now been awarded the Health-i Award 2023 for its efforts. The prestigious award for innovative ideas in healthcare is presented annually by Techniker Krankenkasse and Handelsblatt and recognizes the innovative potential of cureVision. We congratulate the entire team very much!

cureVision was able to convince the top-class and independent jury of the Health-i Awards, including experts from the health care and technology sectors. And after the winner of the last i-Health Award, puray, cureVision is now the second SCE Alumni Startup in a row to win the coveted prize. Among the decision-makers were Dr. Jens Baas, Chairman of the Board of Techniker Krankenkasse, Michael Byczkowski, Global Vice President Health SAP and Charlotte Haunhorst, Member of the Editorial Board at Handelsblatt. The scientific partner of the award is the University Hospital Essen, where a team led by Prof. Dr. Jochen A. Werner reviewed all submissions and made a recommendation for the shortlist.

"cureVision convinced us. An innovative solution with clear patient benefits that can make a significant difference in care for 12 million affected patients" explained jury member Noah Leidinger the decision.

Easy to use with state-of-the-art technology

The care of chronic wounds is a responsible task. On the one hand, it requires a great deal of knowledge and experience, but on the other hand, it also requires technically precise work. Every wound has to be measured and analyzed to ensure that it is treated precisely. What used to be done by hand, with a paper ruler, pencil and digital camera, can now be done with AI-supported technology. The advantages of the unique solution, which is approved as a medical device, are manifold.

The cureVision solution is suitable for both 3D wound analysis and documentation. With its precise measurement capabilities and built-in illumination, it ensures traceability of the healing process and safety in wound documentation. Length, width, depth and the decisive tissue types in the wound bed are recorded in seconds with cureVision.

Specialized wound care providers and home care companies such as Noracare from Mettmann, as well as innovative hospitals such as the Nuremberg Clinic, are already using the system. "The response from customers has exceeded our expectations. We are currently working flat out to clear the waiting list of pre-orders," says Johannes Ruopp, Managing Director of cureVision.

For the love of people: Improving quality of care

For the cureVision team, the technology, which represents a quantum leap in care for both patients:and medical professionals, is a matter of the heart.

"Although 12 million people are affected worldwide, patients with chronic wounds are often not so much in focus. That's why this award encourages us in our work. On behalf of the entire team, we would like to thank you for this special award and take it as an opportunity to continue our full commitment to making a decisive difference in the quality of care for those affected," says Ruopp.

cureVision intends to continue to work closely with hospital management, physicians and nurses to help improve the lives of patients with chronic wounds.
