We know that the Munich startup ecosystem produces outstanding solutions. This was confirmed this week in Berlin, when the winners of the Startup Champs were once again sought and SCE Alumni Team Sub Capitals came out on top as the regional winner for Munich.
Their product is based on an artificial intelligence-driven investment strategy that aims to offer private investors fair and effective investment opportunities and thus create more justice in the financial markets. Sub Capitals was part of the SCE Start-up Certificate in 2020 and winner of the Strascheg Award in the same year. The Munich-based FinTech start-up has developed AI algorithms for share trading to enable private investors to invest using professional AI trading systems, such as those used by large institutions.
Also in the final was another SCE alumnus, Pigtie, whose microinvesting app is aimed specifically at millennials. Pigtie allows users to round up the amount of each transaction to the nearest euro and invest this difference in ETFs, offering an easy entry into the world of financial investments.
Startup Champs sees itself as a competition that drives innovation and entrepreneurship in Germany and connects the various startup hubs of the Munich, Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg ecosystems. The competition is the result of close collaboration between Munich Startup, Werk1, Berlin Partner, Köln Business and Hamburg Invest. The pitch competition, in which a total of twelve startups took part, was held at the Fintech Festival FIBE in Berlin. Part of the award for Sub Capitals is the participation in the international startup conference Slush in Helsinki as well as the presentation with an own booth at the Munich Startup Festival.
Congratulations to our two alumni teams and all finalists on this great achievement. The SCE team is keeping its fingers crossed and is already looking forward to future milestones!
