ChargeX supports #savesion campaign with free bi-directional charging infrastructure

Munich-based ChargeX, which specializes in charging infrastructure for many electric cars in one place, is supporting electric car company Sono Motors, which is also based in Munich. Sono Motors' #savesion campaign, launched on Dec. 8, 2022, calls for at least 3,500 vehicles to be fully deposited within the following 50 days so that further production steps can be initiated. To support the campaign, ChargeX is granting a free power sharing module to every commercial customer who makes a full down payment on the Sion as part of the #savesion campaign. This allows the Sion to be optimally integrated into the corporate fleet and, in addition to electric mobility, also optimize the local energy system.

The Sion is the most ambitious e-mobility project in Germany and has the potential to change our mobility. That's why we support Sono Motors and use the Sion's bi-directional charging function for commercial fleet use.

- Tobias Wagner, Co-Founder & CEO of ChargeX

The Sion is equipped with innovative technologies, such as a solar integration or a bi-directional charging function, in order to be able to use the Sion's 54 kWh energy storage in a variety of ways. The latter feature is where ChargeX comes in, enabling bi-directional charging in commercial fleets with the recently introduced Power Sharing Module. The technology allows energy to be transferred between the batteries of multiple electric cars connected to the same charging system. This reduces the load on the local power connection and allows significantly more charging points to be set up at a corporate location. ChargeX envisions two use cases for the Sion: as a pool vehicle that can be charged at the company site during the night to serve the grid, it can relieve the local charging network during the day and provide energy for other electric cars. In addition, the Sion can be used for company car drivers with their own wallbox at home. Here, the Sion is charged at night to serve the grid. During the day, it relieves the load on the charging network at the company site after the drive to work.

The bi-directional power sharing module can be integrated into any new and existing (since 12/2021) Aqueduct charging system. To be eligible for a free Power Sharing Module as a Sion purchaser, proof of full down payment must be submitted to Sono Motors as a business including reservation number. The Power Sharing Module will then be made available no later than the scheduled delivery date (from 2024) of the Sion.

About ChargeX ChargeX, based in Munich, was founded in 2018 and has developed Aqueduct, a simple system for charging many electric cars in one place. The charging solution requires only one power connection and can be flexibly expanded. The company pursues the vision of snack charging: charging e-cars when they are not needed. With the ChargeX Aqueduct charging system, many charging points can be set up without complexity and operated to serve the grid.
