The winners of the Novartis Digital Health Prize (DGP) 2023 have been announced. Congratulations to cureVision, Batch 4 Alumni of the SCE Accelerator (Start-up Certificate Program Participation), for a strong second place. cureVision offers fully automated and accurate 3D wound analysis in seconds. Each year, Novartis Germany uses the DGP to promote digital helpers who develop solutions for integrative healthcare for the future of the German healthcare system. The award is endowed with a total of 60,000 euros.

Up to now, there has been no uniform standard for documenting wounds in medicine. Wounds have so far only been documented two-dimensionally and under varying conditions, so that important information is lost. With cureVision's new approach to wound documentation, they would like to offer physicians and researchers the possibility of representing wounds three-dimensionally and thus uniformly. In this way, they enable fast, reproducible and objective wound analysis.

We are all very pleased today and proud of this award! We take it as an incentive to continue working on improving the care of people with chronic wounds. Thank you to the team at Novartis Germany and to the distinguished jury, who believe that we can revolutionize the quality of care. A big thank you to everyone who has supported us with advice, action and their investment on our journey so far and who have put their trust in us - Team cureVision.

"With their commitment and diverse concepts, the digital health companies in Germany are ensuring that the general population can increasingly benefit from the great potential of e-health applications," said Heinrich Moisa, CEO of Novartis Germany and host of the DGP.

This year's winning DGP projects are:

  • 1st place: GerontoNet by vital.services GmbH from Leipzig (€25,000) - platform for regional networking of know-how, technologies and medical as well as nursing services for the healthcare of an aging society.
  • 2nd place: cureVision by cureVision GmbH from Munich (€15,000) - AI- and telemedicine-based tool for the objective analysis and professional care of chronic wounds
  • 3rd place: (Audience Award): Reach by Generation Reach GmbH from Berlin (€10,000) - Device for the TV that supports senior* citizens in their health management and enables barrier-free contact with their families.

About the Digital Health Award from Novartis Germany In order for society to be prepared for the growing challenges in healthcare, new solutions are needed that go beyond the development of innovative medicines. These include e-health concepts, such as those that Novartis Germany has been promoting since 2018 with the Digital Health Prize (DGP). Novartis supports the candidates beyond the award ceremony and provides them with useful know-how and valuable contacts. The company sees the DGP as a platform for constructive exchange between all players in the healthcare sector and thus contributes to strengthening innovation in Germany and opening up new technologies that help patients achieve a better quality of life and better care.

The honorary and independent jury with top-class experts from patient organizations, health insurance companies, universities and the start-up scene selects the winners every year and is guided by the three established basic principles of cost-effectiveness, attractiveness and scalability.

The DGP is endowed with a total of 60,000 euros. The winning project receives 25,000 euros, the second-place team 15,000 euros. Third place and the winner of the special prize will each receive 10,000 euros.
