Successful start for the Social Startup Hub Bavaria

With the "Social-Startup-Hub Bayern", the first central and state-supported contact point for prospective social entrepreneurs in Bavaria was launched in September. Here, those interested in setting up a business receive free support from the early stages onwards in the form of advice and networking. www.social-startup-hub.de

TheSocial Startup Hub Bavaria
The offer of the Social Startup Hub Bavaria includes both consulting and networking and is aimed at individuals and teams who want to create social value with their startup. In the free, low-threshold consulting, the prospective social entrepreneurs benefit from many years of experience, intensive industry knowledge and innovative impulses from idea development to implementation. Furthermore, networking with partners and other contact points plays a central role in supporting the start-ups. The goal of the Social Startup Hub is to strengthen social entrepreneurship with these offers not only in the metropolises, but in all Bavarian regions.

Social Entrepreneurship in Bavaria

Ulrike Scharf, Bavarian Minister of Social Affairs emphasizes: "Our Bavarian Social-Startup-Hub is unique in Germany and specifically targets aspiring social entrepreneurs. The Social-Startup-Hub is the central contact point and provides targeted support."

The Social-Startup-Hub Bavaria is the core of the interdepartmental concept for the promotion of social entrepreneurship, which was adopted by the Bavarian state government at the beginning of the year. With this project and the Social Startup Hub in particular, Bavaria is strengthening a way of doing business in which entrepreneurial activity and social added value are not contradictory, but go hand in hand: Social entrepreneurship uses entrepreneurial methods to develop innovative approaches to solving social and environmental challenges. In doing so, the social impact is in the foreground of the actions.

Challenges of social start-ups
Start-ups that have embedded a social goal in their business model are often confronted with special challenges and can therefore only be supported to a limited extent by classic consultancies and incubators. Thus, social startups are usually dependent on specialized funding offers, which, however, can usually only be taken advantage of from an advanced stage. Support in the pre-startup phase has been almost non-existent:

"With the Social-Startup-Hub Bayern, we are closing a gap in the support of social entrepreneurs and look forward to accompanying their first steps," says Project Lead Kristina Notz from SEA. "We are open to collaborations and would like to build a versatile partner network."

Social Entrepreneurship Akademie
The Social Entrepreneurship Akademie (SEA) is the sponsor of the Social Startup Hub Bavaria. With over 10 years of experience in accompanying social startups and developing diverse educational formats, the SEA builds on its expertise, experience and contacts to successfully implement this project and provide the best possible support to founders:inside. The Social Startup Hub Bavaria is a model project over two years and is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs.
