Unlike conventional, permanently sewn-on buttons, the bup system’s approach allows for easy replacement and removal without a needle and thread. This opens up entirely new possibilities for circular value creation: fasteners can be reused, personalized, and more easily recycled at the end of the product’s life cycle. The team behind bup system—consisting of Lilian Onstenk (Creative), Anna Huber (Legal), and Aurelia Pleyer (Communications)—shares a common vision, as the three founders explain:

In addition to successfully completing the SCE Incubation program, they were supported on their startup journey by Prof. Dr. Julia Eiche of Munich University of Applied Sciences and Saskia Schmidl from the SCE Startup Advisory Service, including assistance with their application for the exist grant. The exist startup grant now enables bup system to further develop its innovative concept and drive its market launch forward . In addition to financial support, the team benefits from intensive coaching, infrastructure, and the SCE’s network.
