Making muscle activity visible and controllable
Noxon is developing a non-invasive muscle-computer interface that makes muscle activity continuous and detectable in everyday life. Sensors integrated into clothing measure muscle signals directly and translate them into usable data. The aim is to make muscle work systematically accessible outside of clinical environments for the first time - as a basis for personalized therapy, training and prevention.
More than one billion people worldwide live with muscle diseases. At the same time, muscle activity has so far mostly only been measured selectively under clinical conditions. Whether for Parkinson's disease, scoliosis or rehabilitation after an accident or stroke - there is often a lack of continuous data from everyday life. This is precisely where Noxon comes in: Therapies should be individualized based on data and adapted over the entire course of the disease.
From research to clinical application
What is now a successful start-up began as a project at ochschule München University of Applied Sciences in 2021. In the early phase, the team received support in particular from the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship, HM's start-up center. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Moosheimer also closely accompanied the practical implementation and enabled the team to use the HM's printing laboratories even during the coronavirus period.
Founded in 2022, the spin-off emerged from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Technical University of Munich and Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences. The interdisciplinary founding team combines expertise in neuroscience, medical technology, hardware and software development as well as AI-based signal processing.
Noxon intends to use the fresh capital to drive forward the clinical validation and regulatory approval of the platform and develop standardized therapy modules. This will prepare the transition from research to broad clinical application and the market.
Tailwind from the investor network
BayStartUP supported Noxon in the fundraising process, from pitch preparation to targeted networking with suitable investors. Investors also emphasized the platform's potential - particularly with regard to personalized, outpatient and digital therapy solutions in the growing rehab and neurotechnology market.
