The team, which now consists of eleven members, has developed a non-invasive method for sexing unhatched chicks using absorption spectroscopy. This technology aims to save millions of male chicks from being killed and to offer laying hen farms a legally compliant alternative.
Omegga has achieved several significant successes since its inception. The team won the Strascheg Award 2021 in the category "Best Business Idea from Science and Practice" and successfully went through Batch #6 of the SCE Incubation Program. Other highlights include the patent application, participation in the EIT Food Seedbed Incubator Program, receiving the EXIST start-up grant and winning the EIC Accelerator 2023 with an accompanying 2.4 million euros in funding.
