steptics receives EXIST founder grant

We are happy with the steptics team, our alumni from Batch #5 of the Start-up Certificate Accelerator, for this new success with the receipt of the EXIST-Gründerstipendium. Setting the course for the start of the venture was the successful participation in the Strascheg Award, HM's ideas competition, and the subsequent coaching within the Start-up League of HM and SCE.

The EXIST start-up grant is a funding program of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and is co-financed by the European Social Fund. The founding teams receive a scholarship at attractive conditions for a period of 12 months to develop a business plan and prepare for their start-up with the support of their university or research institution.

The steptics team, consisting of Ben Els, Daniel Kun and Toni Padilla, uses a patented, industrialized and automated production process to reduce the manufacturing costs of high-performance foot prostheses, thereby providing access to maximum mobility for people with amputations worldwide. In addition, due to their late individualization within the production chain, the prostheses can be tailor-made to the specific requirements of the patient.

With Prof. Dr. Erwin Steinhauser from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mechatronics at Munich University of Applied Sciences, the ideal mentor for the team could be found with his many years of experience in the medical technology industry and the provision of the infrastructure for a wide variety of tests on the prostheses.
