Bonita Grupp was born on Oct. 8, 1989 as the first child of Wolfgang Grupp and Elisabeth Grupp, née von Holleuffer, in Tübingen and grew up in Burladingen, where her father had managed the TRIGEMA textile company since 1969. After elementary school in Burladingen, Bonita was sent to an English-speaking international boarding school in Switzerland together with her brother Wolfgang Grupp Jr. who was one and a half years younger. She then studied economic history in London, first at King's College and then at the elite London School of Economics (Master's degree in 2012).
In 2013, Bonita Grupp joined TRIGEMA in the e-commerce department. In her father's company, she then spent the following years building up the online business. The coronavirus pandemic from spring 2020 onwards proved to be a test of her mettle. During this time, when TRIGEMA at times primarily produced makeshift face masks instead of sports and leisurewear as before, she successfully ensured that online retail was expanded. While turnover in this sector accounted for around 20% before the coronavirus crisis, it was already at 40% in 2022. In 2024, she and her brother became the fourth generation of the family to take over the company.
Bonita will talk about her journey and shed light on the topic of entrepreneurship from the perspective of family succession, which is no longer very common these days.
