WHY SET?

Social, ecological and technological developments are currently fundamentally changing the economy, the state and civil society. Global crises, new technologies, geopolitical tensions and growing demands for sustainable and responsible business practices are increasing the pressure on organizations in all areas to change. At the same time, there is a growing need for specialists and managers who can understand complex interrelationships, analyze systemic interactions and actively shape change processes. Studies and international reports have shown this for years: The ability to deal with complexity and develop sustainable future prospects is one of the crucial skills of the coming decades.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

The part-time Master's in Systems Entrepreneurship & Transformation at HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences prepares you to understand complex social, economic and technological contexts and to actively shape change. The focus is on systemic thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, the involvement of various stakeholders and methods for shaping the future and innovation. Through cooperation with our partner universities in The Hague, Sarajevo and Rome, you will also gain a European perspective and learn how to master transformation challenges in an international context.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

The qualification profile combines systems analysis, future skills, transformation design, innovation methods and responsible leadership. This enables you to understand complex developments, develop strategic paths for the future and implement innovative solutions. You can actively shape transformation, analyze interrelationships and interactions systemically and contribute to shaping economic and social developments in a sustainable way. After graduating, a wide range of career paths will open up to you - for example in commercial enterprises, in the public sector, in international organizations or in social entrepreneurial initiatives.

Interdisciplinary approach

Linking technology, economics, social sciences and futurology qualifies students from different disciplines for transformational leadership tasks

International format

Attendance phases at partner universities in Munich, The Hague, Sarajevo and Rome as well as the international composition of the cohort ensure a change of perspective

Practical orientation

Visiting companies, exploring innovation ecosystems and a group of students with professional experience ensure practical relevance

Systemic focus

The Master's understands transformation processes as networked challenges in dynamic contexts and teaches methods to make complex interactions and development paths visible

Content & procedure

Format: Mainly online, supplemented by international practical phases at the partner universities in Munich, The Hague, Sarajevo and Rome.

Focus of the Master's curriculum:

  1. Understanding systems: Systemic thinking, circular economy, analyzing ecological, economic and social interrelationships
  2. Implementing innovation: Shaping change processes in organizations and society, corporate innovation and intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship and social impact
  3. Thinking internationally: global challenges, visions, experiences in various European ecosystems
  4. Leading responsibly: Systemic leadership, developing your own leadership role, applying systemic approaches
  5. Shaping the future: Future research, trends and scenarios, pioneering technologies, deriving strategic options for action

Requirements & target group

  • Open to professionals of all disciplines
  • Professional experience: At least 1 year
  • Good knowledge of English is required (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Proof of at least 180 ECTS and at least six theoretical semesters of study completed with an overall examination result of "good" or better at a German university or an equivalent degree

Two-stage application procedure

  • Complete application by the deadline via the Munich University of Applied Sciences application portal
  • 30-minute interview with teaching staff of the Master's program

Verena is passionate about guiding people along their learning journey – especially when it comes to lifelong learning in an international context.

With a background in English Studies, she has always kept the global perspective in mind: after completing her degree at LMU Munich and spending time abroad in places such as New Zealand and Canada, she gained experience at the Canadian Consulate and later as Program Manager of the ‘Management & Innovation’ Master’s at TU Munich.

‘Innovation is good – but social innovation is even better!’ With this conviction, Verena joined SEA in August 2025. As part of the ‘Impact for Future’ project, she is developing a cross-university Master’s program in Social Entrepreneurship. Her work combines her passion for education, innovation, and international collaboration – with the aim of creating lasting impact for society.

Whether professionally or personally, Verena is a true team player. On the football field, she proves week after week how much team spirit and solidarity mean to her.
