Sophisticated Space Structures wants to develop a 3D printing unit that will enable satellites to produce truss structures adapted to weightlessness directly in space. The structure printed in a continuous process will also be used to fold out flexible solar arrays and thus increase the available electrical power compared to previous systems, even for small satellites. Additively manufactured structures are intended to make today's space travel sustainable and cost-efficient in the future, as well as to create new opportunities for missions.
