These are the winners of the SOCIAL X-FACTOR 2024

Go back

Every year at the end of the summer semester, around 120 students from various faculties come together in the SOCIAL X-FACTOR real project to work on a social challenge in a block seminar in interdisciplinary teams. This semester's topic was DEMOCRACY IN A TECHNOLOGIZED SOCIETY. Innovative ideas and functioning prototypes were developed in just one week. We present the winners of the Social X-Factor 2024.

About the Social X Factor:
We firmly believe that entrepreneurial approaches can play a crucial role in shaping a democratic society. We not only want to promote innovative business models, but also help strengthen the foundations of our democracy and foster community. In interdisciplinary teams, the aim is to identify challenges that affect our democracy and communities and to explore innovative approaches to overcome them.

At the end of the block seminar week, the students' innovative ideas were presented to the public at a major event on July 24, 2024. The guests and participants at the closing event were able to award Impact Dollars to a Coach SXF team.

The following ideas were particularly convincing. Here are the winners of the SXF24:

3rd place (Coach: Peter Dürr)
EduCards:
Every second young person feels insufficiently informed about politics. What about your knowledge? EduCards teaches democratic values and political knowledge in a playful way to bring you closer to the world of politics.

2nd place (Coach: Daniel Ittstein)
OTTOfragt:
In our increasingly fast-paced society, there is less and less time for social engagement and participation. OTTOfragt wants to use its "OTTOfragt..." opinion poll trash can to increase citizen participation by making voting easier and more accessible.

1st place (Coach: Johanna Kobilke)
KarmaKiosk:
The "KarmaKiosk" revitalizes subway stations as places of encounter and social participation. With fair prices, a solidarity counter that displays donations for the needy and a neighborhood board, it promotes community and democracy in practice.

The winners can look forward to one of the coveted WildCards for the Strascheg Award, which is endowed with prize money totaling 30,000 euros, and a Golden Ticket for start-up consulting.

We would like to congratulate all participants and award winners on these outstanding innovations and achievements! Together, we are making the future a little bit better, bit by bit.

Do you have an innovative idea yourself? Then apply by 30.09.2024 for the Strascheg Award, the ideas competition organized by Munich University of Applied Sciences and the SCE.
