-this is the title of a lecture that Kilian Schmid will give next Tuesday (03.05.2022) at 5:30 p.m. as part of the digital VDI Tuesday Lectures of Faculty 03 of Mechanical, Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering at Munich University of Applied Sciences. Although Kilian Schmid is still studying at Munich University of Applied Sciences, he can already look back on a great success, winning the international tunnel construction competition "Not-A-Boring-Competition" in the USA from Elon Musk with the team TUM Boring. This is the follow-up event to the famous Hyperloop competitions, which attracted a lot of attention in Germany but also internationally - also because TUM emerged as the winner in each case. TUM was also the biggest player in the last competition. This success would not have been possible without Kilian Schmid and the numerous students from the Munich University of Applied Sciences who were active in leading positions and pushed the team forward. The SCE also supported the team. More info at https://www.boringcompany.com/

Among other things, Kilian Schmid initiated the participation in this competition, provided essential ideas and approaches, took care of the financing and helped to build and lead the large team. In his presentation, he will show what this competition is all about and will be able to give a first-hand account of the diverse and exciting experiences he has had.

He will also talk about how the technology that has been developed is progressing. As part of the international Start For Future program, he is currently working with his team and the SCE to create their startup, Metraspace, with which he hopes to help shape the mobility of the future. His goal is to build a tunnel infrastructure that can realize fast, safe, comfortable and sustainable transportation. This is only possible if rapid innovations can increase the speed of tunnel construction and reduce costs.

The Start for Future initiative, launched by SCE and HM, is a network of international universities and associated incubators that share their startups, partners and resources to educate entrepreneurial talent and create and accelerate high-potential startups.

The talk will take place digitally. These are the access details:
