This year's Health Day at Munich University of Applied Sciences was full of exciting presentations and activities. The SCE was also represented by three alumni teams from our Incubation Program. The health start-ups Airgonomics.ai, COBY and Noxon presented their innovative concepts, which aim to improve our physical and mental health in very different ways.

The Munich-based energy start-up and SCE alumni PIONIERKRAFT has received a high seven-figure sum in a successful Series A financing round, thus reaching an important milestone in its company history. The round is led by First Imagine!, a European venture capital firm focusing on innovative solutions for a sustainable future. With this investment, First Imagine! is supporting the expansion of PIONIERKRAFT's pioneering energy sharing solution for multi-family homes.

The Bits & Pretzels Conference 2024 was held under the inspiring motto "Kickstart Europe", and this year it once again provided a platform for the European startup scene to shape the future together. From sharing innovative ideas to deep insights into the latest technologies, the conference was a hotspot for entrepreneurs, innovators and investors from all over Europe. Thematically, Bits & Pretzels was all about European collaboration. Exciting panels and forward-looking keynotes discussed how Europe needs to strengthen its market in order to keep up with the USA and Asia in global competition.

On October 29 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. you will learn at the workshop "Social entrepreneurship - rethinking and (co-)designing business & work" of the Social Entrepreneurship Academy After a brief introduction to social entrepreneurship, you will get to know social entrepreneurs and social start-ups from the field and work with them on their challenges in the areas of work and climate change. "We had this great idea of the New European Bauhaus - but this idea can only work if it is filled with life from the bottom up. It is overwhelming for me to see that this is happening," said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen enthusiastically during her visit to Neuperlach. As part of the lighthouse project "Creating NEBourhoods Together", beautiful, environmentally friendly and sustainable neighborhoods in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) have been created in the south-eastern district of Munich since October 2022 - together with the population, representatives of the administration, business and science.

Our startup alumni Spyra showed us once again how to do a Kickstarter funding round right with the launch of their new product, the world's first water bomb launcher. The campaign was fully funded in 7 minutes and has now raised over 700% of the original funding target. On 17.09.2024, the SCE Alumni Team of MEDEA Biopharma was selected as one of the 16 winners of the Startup Germany Summit. The health startup develops sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions based on bacteriophages to effectively combat even antibiotic-resistant bacteria in humans, animals and plants.

The AI+MUNICH-funded start-up SUMM AI has a noble mission: to make even complicated texts such as contracts or laws comprehensible to everyone in easy-to-understand language. This Munich Startup article by Helen Duran reports on the latest developments of the team, which now has over 20 members.
